Joan Miró was a famous Catalan painter, sculptor and ceramist. His father was a goldsmith and his mother came from sunny Mallorca. When Joan Miró was young, he began to work as a clerk. Later on, he became interested in art and his teacher became Francesco Gaul. He loved France and its art, paintings and music. He was strongly influenced by Fauvism and Cubism and later on by Surrealism. His work was full of geometrical and unusual shapes. Colours and movement played a major role throughout his work.
