Juan Gris (1887-1927) was a Spanish painter and sculptor. He spent most of his life in France. His work is closely associated with Cubism. He often used the papier collé technique. Unlike Picasso and Braque, whose paintings were monochromatic, Gris used bright and balanced colors in new and interesting combinations, much like his friend Henri Matisse.
